About: University Hospital Monklands / Mental Health

(as the patient),

I attended ward 25 maternity assessment unit, on leaving the department a staff member was leaving ward 24 and shouted to me oh don't go through that door that's psychiatric in here you don't want to come in here. I was disgusted by her comment. I had just had some bad news at my appointment so wasn't in the correct frame of mind to challenge her comments.

People with mental health issue have enough stigma to deal, without the very people who are suppose to care and support them making inappropriate comments. I cannot believe in a modern health service such attitudes exist, especially in places that look after vulnerable people! Not a good impression!
