"My daughter was admitted to ward ..."

About: Darlington Memorial Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

My daughter was admitted to ward 21 with temp and pneumonia she was very poorly the nursing care was exceptional they were very dedicated and thorough. All staff were very kind and gave explanations. I could not fault any member of staff they were excellant

What could be improved

Sleeping arrangements for parents i stayed with my daughter and slept in a chair the first night the second i slept on the end of her bed which was exceptionally uncomfortable for myself and her. Eventually a very caring nurse offered me a spare empty bed to sleep in next to my daughter which enabled me to have a decent nights sleep whilst still being there for my daughter as needed. Not being able to have hot drinks in the room i understand the health and safety aspect but at home i would drink hot drinks next to her and as i did not want to leave her i went for hours with nothing to eat or drink.

Anything else?

As parents stay with the child there comforts could be taken into consideration.
