"Most of the staff were kind and helpful"

About: Southend Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Most of the staff were kind and helpful

What could be improved

Being allowed to eat our meals without having to stop for procedures / x-rays etc. As the food cannot be reheated it meant that at times e went without meals.

Men wandered the female are of the ward which made me feel very uncomfortable indeed.

I wasn't asked if students could be present. Too many medical students came into the room and just stared, I felt embarrassed and couldn't see the point of them being there. Students should be limited to two.

The cleaner wiped the shelf but never lifted the items on it ... she never checked the toilet area.

Being confined to bed I wasn't given the opportunity to wash my hands after using the toilet, or even helped to have a daily wash.

Anything else?

I found the doctors very caring, they took time to explain procedures and understood the anxiety the procedures cause, which was a great help.
