Following an attendance for irregular bleeding my daughter was advised by a gynaecologist that she needed to attend the genito-urinary department to have a cervical smear. When she phoned to arrange this, the person who answered the phone asked her age- 23. She asked no other details just told her she was too young to have one. She has now had one done by her GP and the result is abnormal CIN 1 or 2. Please don't get fobbed off by staff who are giving contradictory advice.
"Abnormal result after my daughter was advised smear was not necessary"
