"I have had a bowel disease and ..."

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I have had a bowel disease and prolapse bowel and been on opiods for last 3 years. I was to have a operation at John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford for this but they recommended I have a gastric band fitted to loose weight and make my operation safer. They applied to Worcester PCT who refused them as Worcester Royal did the same operation. I finally got to see The consultant at Worcester Royal and was told I would have to go one a weight management programme for 1 year and then it would take 18 months for the funding to come through. In the meantime I suffer daily in agony. and am housebound. I feel Worcester Royal failed me in their Duty of Care.

What could be improved

Due to the pain I have been suffering, they could make allowances and fitted the band immediatley to give me a life back.
