"Concern Over Having to Wait to see a Doctor"

About: Northern General Hospital

(as the patient),

I was admitted to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital for an infection and stayed on ward L1. I was treated at all times with respect and nothing was too much trouble for the nurses.

After my discharge I was admitted to the Northern General Hospital a week later. I was placed on a mixed ward and as I was suffering with my nerves and depression I was quite upset at this. I asked the staff for water to take my usual medication, I was informed that I was not allowed to take them and that I had to be seen by a doctor first. This caused further distress to me and half an hour later I was allowed to take my medication without seeing a doctor. The doctor did come to see me at 5.45am the next morning. I understand that the staff are extremely busy, but, the actions of one particular member of staff caused what I believe to be undue distress and upset to myself.

In the future if I am told I am being admitted to Northern General Hospital I am afraid I would put my health at risk rather than go to that hospital.
