"Terrible Nursing Experience"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Urology (Ward 6)

(as the patient),

My experience at Monklands was very much a game of 2 halves, I was admitted via casualty with a kidney stone, A & E staff were excellent and I was given pain relief and transferred to ward 6 and the nursing staff on the Friday evening were excellent and caring.

Saturday morning was a completely different story with the change of staff, 2 of which were extremely rude and unhelpful and were verging on abuse of an older patient lying in the bed across from me who clearly was confused and in need of help, I have never saw such uncaring in nurses and was shocked that attitudes like this still exist in a mainstream NHS hospital.

Dear STW

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience and observations of care at Monklands Hospital, I am sorry your experience was far from positive. Your observations are very concerning to me; it is my expectation that all patients are treated with care, compassion and respect and I am disappointed and saddened that this has not been your experience.

To help me address these issues I would very much appreciate the opportunity to speak with you, if you could contact Melanie MacLean, our Patient Affairs Manager, on 01236 713065, to arrange a suitable time.

I hope you are now recovering from your kidney stone complaint and your pain has resolved.

Regards

Ruth
