"Coronary Care"

About: Alexandra Hospital / Cardiology Worcestershire Royal Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

During a scheduled ECG and treadmill exercise test I was admitted to the Alexander Hospital, Coronary Care Unit. During the early morning hours the following day an Atrial Fibrillation attack resulted in being 'blue lighted' to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where an emergency Angioplasty procedure was undertaken. I was then returned by ambulance to the Redditch Alexander Hospital for recovery.

What's good?

- All Angioplasty support team

- 'ALL' staff at both hospitals

- Andy and Paul quick response

- ambulance crew

- Dr Abban and her specialist team

- Entire ward Staff

-Ongoing Physiotherapy support

-Special appreciation to Dr Andrew Epstein

- Tentative care

- The ward housekeeping staff

What could be improved?

- Although, accept the job has to be done

- Minimize sleep deprivation

- nothing at all except perhaps quieter nights

- Sharing ward with other patients has its difficulties

Many thanks for your very positive feedback which I will pass on to all the staff concerned. I hope that you are continuing to make a good recovery. Noise at night is something that we are continuing to work on as we know that good quality sleep and rest is essential to recovery. We are developing a new protocol and if you have any suggestions following your recent experience and / or would like to be involved in helping us with this we would love to hear from you. Please email us at:

wah-tr.PET@nhs.net for the attention of the Patient Experience Team – Noise at Night

Best wishes
