What I liked
From the moment I arrived I was treated with care and courtesy. I arrived at A&E reception to see a dotor in considerable pain. There was a queue but a member of staff saw how distressed I was and immediately spoke with me. The doctor quickly got me admitted and I was whisked up to the ward by a friendly porter. The staff on Sparthfield Ward were great, I couldn't have asked for better treatment. Having a diagnosis of gallstones I will be returning in approx 10 weeks. At a very distreesing time, it is reassuring to know I will be returning to a team who are so professional and caring.
What could be improved
Since leaving the hospital I have been told by an acquaintance that when she had gallstones she did not have to have surgery. I am now doing some research of my own. I'm not saying that surgery is the wrong option - I am not a trained medic but a little more information about the options and why surgery is the best for me would, with hindsight, have been nice.
