"Rude staff"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I had an ophthalmology appointment at Ayr Hospital. I have come to various other departments in Ayr hospital and always found them fantastic but I was horrified at my visit.

When I arrived, a staff member was very rude and unpleasant and just told me to sit down when I arrived. I then went to ask a question about rearranging my appointment and I was spoken about in a rude manner.

I also witnessed other rude comments to various other members of staff and patients as I sat in the waiting area.

I would not expect to see this, especially from staff who could be greeting worried/concerned patients.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

You are right, it is not what to expect nor what you should get. I will pass this to the management team and I am sure they will raise this with the staff.
