The facility is lovely and the setting is beautiful - the windows of the shared room I was in look out onto a pasture of ponies - but I was not very happy with the care I received here.
I transferred to the New Forest Birth Centre after a difficult birth at the Princess Anne Hospital in order to receive support in establishing breastfeeding.
However, my first evening there a midwife told me, inaccurately, that a medicine I am on is not compatible with breastfeeding and that I would need to stop trying to breastfeed my baby until I could consult my GP and switch to a different medication.
This was upsetting to hear particularly as I had spoken to my GP about the medication in question prior to trying to conceive and been told that I should stay on it for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The next day a different midwife confirmed that the first midwife had been mistaken, but I still did not receive any support with latching my baby on.
Another midwife apologised for this and said that it was because the centre was very busy as two women were giving birth.
Overall I was very disappointed with my postnatal care here, and wish we had just gone straight home from the Princess Anne.
"Lovely facility but care not great"
