"Incredible staff at Good Hope."

About: Good Hope Hospital / Gynaecology

I had appointment at Good Hope hospital to have a hysteroscopy. My appointment at at 10am, I turned up at reception 9: 30 and a lovely female porter took me up to where I needed to go. I was taken to be assessed by 09: 45am. I was immediately made to feel welcome and comfortable. I was taken to a changing area and given 2 gowns as I am bigger than the average patient, I didn't even need to ask, the wonderful nurse who took me in just handled it. I was then taken to the waiting room. The seats went suitable for a person of my size but at this point I was so nervous I just wanted to stand so I could breath. Another nurse discreetly called me out the room to ask if I was ok to stand or if I wanted to sit in recovery. This was really lovely as when you are a larger patient, you are often made to feel like you aren't even a person at all. I was waiting with another equally nervous lass for about 20 minutes and then called into the procedure room where I was greeted by 2 nurses and and my consultant. They talked me though everything and made me feel at ease. After my initial consultation I was given privacy to prepare for the procedure and helped onto the table. The whole thing took about 5 minutes, it was uncomfortable but the nurses and consultant were amazing and talked me through everything. Once it was done, again, I was given privacy to dress myself. I even managed to drop 20p from a pocket than the nurse picked up for me! I was then taken to recovery and my blood pressure and heart rate were taken. I was given a cup of tea and time to calm down as I was quite shaky. Overall, I can not fault the way I was treated from start to finish. I have had so many bad experiences trying to get to the root of my condition but the staff on this department should be so proud of their work. I am so grateful for their kindness. Thank you.
