What I liked
Nurses were kind and showed compansion to my Dad, something the Doctors would benefit from learning from.
What could be improved
To many doctors and consultants telling you different information. They should admit to not knowing answers to your questions instead of going defensive. I had researched my Dads condition and knew of the Chemo treatment that they had dismissed! It is now the standard treatment for CC!! If they don't know ask someone else or research, it's not hard to do!
Anything else?
My Dad was told he has inoperable cancer and had months left to live. I'm not happy with the fact he was alone when told this and also that when asked if any treatment was available the answer was 'I've never heard of any'. On transfer to QE my dad was told he will be having Chemo, which hopefully will give him years not months. They need to know these things as another family could be told the same. They put us through hell for a week thinking my Dad had months left. Transfer to the QE should have been much quicker too, if a patient has liver problems and they are not specialised to deal with it they should be sent direct to the QE. My Dad was messed about, nil by mouth for cancelled procedures, then when they did do PCT it didn't work. All this time my dads bilirubin level was rising. Doctors need to realise they are dealing with people with feelings not numbers, I hope to god that they never go through the hell we have been through.
