Attended the MIU last Tuesday evening, the staff were very welcoming and I was seen promptly and efficiently, seeing a doctor and receiving medication within a half an hour of my arrival. The refurbishment looks bright and modern but why do I get the feeling that its not yet fully utilised, temporary signs, no pictures in the waiting area and in the clinical room things that should be on the walls are on the floor and lent against the walls? Excellent care can be provided in a 'Mud Hut' as its the staff who count. But, don't insult them by asking them to work in an unfinished environment. Come on you senior managers get your fingers out and get it finished asap..As a trust you should provide a state of the art and flag ship facilities to match the care provided by your staff. Get the building finished and implement the planned changes now its what the patients and your staff at Newark are entitled too or have you spent the money you were given for this project somewhere else?
