My 87-year-old father was admitted to ward 8. And on visiting I was told his bloody toes was going to be cleaned and dressed. I left after 3 hours with assurance this was to be done.

Arrived following day and toe had not been dressed, also catheter was leaking, a senior nurse came and didn't have a clue what she was doing and promptly opened the valve and urine poured over the floor. A cleaner came over and mopped it up and went on to use the same mop along the floor into the hallway, and the floor was not disinfected...

Nobody seemed to know what was really happening and was very quick to say 'it's not my job'! Every time a nurse came to check my fathers blood pressure they had to be reminded not to use his left arm as he is in pain with this.

A doctor tried to take a blood sample from my fathers right arm and was told by a nurse not to because there are drips attached into that arm and would not give accurate readings. Nurses were told on 4 occasions my father was trying to remove the cannula with his teeth (my father is in and out of consciousness) before anybody came to look at it and offer some sort of remedy.

We went to the nurses desk on a number of occasions to ask about my father and nurses were just sitting together chatting.
