"Upsetting experience"

About: Kingston Hospital / Accident and emergency

As I got there I went to desk to register. Person behind the desk very gloomy, no eye contact at all announces that there was a wait of 2/3hours.

Quite happy to do so, eventually I got seen by a doctor, who, given the nature of my needs and situation, did not hold the door open or helped me on or off the examination bed. The doctor's bedside manners are something to be desired.Quick check and asked me to give a urine sample and give it to a nurse. Did so but could I find a nurse who was willing to take it from me to be tested? No ! I just couldn't even find anyone to help me find a nurse. The Triage person did everything in their power to avoid me while I was waiting at the desk with the sample in my hand.

By now I was starting to feel quite anxious, (something which I've never experienced before). I asked the receptionist what I should do and they said that they didn't know.

By now I was so desperate to find someone to help me that I started to feel quite panicky, I just didn't know what else I was supposed to do with the sample.

I waited and waited and looked around for help. I was having such an anxiety attack by now that a young doctor who was passing stopped, asked what the problem was and told me to go home and take the sample to my own doctor in the morning. It was the best advice I received during my 4/5 hours ordeal at Kingston A&E.

the whole experience left me quite traumatised which is ironic as a hospital should do the exact opposite. Perhaps I was still in shock from my incident but seriously it felt like a cattle market and I left feeling worse than when I got there. I just couldn't wait to get out of there. There were quite a few people there, the pace seemed very slow, everyone was getting quite impatient.
