"Ambulatory care...rather Ambulatory non care"

I was recently referred to Ambulatory Care by my GP due to having 3 weeks of persistent symptoms, which I was hospitalised for 10 days previously. Having arrived in the department at 10am, I was helped by a Leazes Wing reception staff member to get me to the department as my balance was off due to dizziness. I was then asked by the department reception to come to the desk to be asked a few questions... I wasn't exactly able to do that given my presentation, so was ignored! I then was "told" by this same reception person to sit in a transporter chair so that the nurse can wheel me down to the cubicle, which I did, but they offered no support to assist me. I then was taken down to the ambulatory care area where I had my obs taken and my blood glucose levels checked (I have type 1 diabetes). This was all carried out by 10.30am... I was not seen by the consultant until 4.15pm, where my lovely GP had requested a head scan as they were not happy with my ongoing symptoms. This consultant was very obnoxious, treated my like "something on the bottom of their shoe". Their "junior" having assessed me earlier that afternoon in a very robotic and inpersonable manner! Unbelievable treatment by this so called consultant... refused to investigate my symptoms further stating that I didn't need a head scan as I had an MRI carried out only a few months ago. I told them that this was actually 2 years ago for symptoms totally different to now. They did not acknowledge my comments and proceeded by telling me that there is nothing they can do for me today and to go home... having spent 7 hours waiting for this lack of patient care... a total disgrace. Furthermore, my blood glucose levels were not checked all the time I was a patient on ambulatory care and I have no hypo awareness, so that is an issue in itself.

I would not recommend this department to anyone. My GP has been very supportive over the three weeks since I've been having these symptoms, but the RVI have been very unsupportive, lacking in patient care and not showing any "bedside manner" whatsoever... totally disappointed with the lack of treatment and refusal for further investigative work.
