"My stay in ward 9Y"

About: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital

I have lots of experience of treatment in different hospitals and I feel I must let the world know how impressed I am with my recent stay on 9Y. My surgeon and the team working with them were all absolutely fantastic. I was treated as a person and not just a number to be dealt with. Every single member of staff I came into contact with were all professional and caring, they all worked together as a team and all cheerful (we even had a spontaneous burst of a Christmas song from one member of staff) This cheerfulness rubbed off on all the patients and although we all had operations and quite serious illnesses the atmosphere in the ward was pleasant and the radio in the background added to this.

My surgeon is an absolutely wonderful person, I do not think they will ever realise what a difference they have made to my life now and for the rest of my life. They are right up at the top with the one other surgeon who has made a huge difference to my life. I will remember these two and be very thankful for the rest of my life. The doctors who saw me on their behalf were very competent and I felt fully understood and could explain every part of my treatment. The ward was spotless, and the staff used the hand gel all the time, I also liked the fact that visitors were advised to use this gel and the patients after using the bathroom. Now we come to the medical students on the ward, it was so nice to meet such a pleasant group of young people entering the profession. You have all chosen a very difficult path but just look at what can be achieved. I wish you all the very best throughout your chosen careers and anything you can pick up off my top notch surgeon has to an asset to your futures, watch them, listen to them and learn from them is probably the best advice you will ever get.

A huge thank you to everybody involved in my care. I am recovering well and appreciate everything you have done for me.
