"ambulances, bed blocking, privacy"

About: East Of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as the patient),

Some time back I was seriously ill missed, by the GP over a number of weeks, but which was recognised by the excellent ambulance team but they advised me that since it was Easter Weekend I would be laying around up to 12 hours to be seen if they took me in they suggested I got the GP to arrange for an immediate admission.

I eventually saw a Consultant privately who arranged an immediate admission.

The problem of the unreasonable use of the ambulances and the NHS at weekends is difficult, The admin of dealing with the problem individually would produce difficulties. But in my opinion it would seem reasonable to get the pubs and clubs to pay a levy to the local NHS which would be ring fenced for the cost of additional resources.

Thank for your feedback. I am pleased to hear that the crew were excellent.

I am sorry that you had to seek private medical care to be admitted to hospital. I hope you have made a good recovery.

Kind regards
