Few weeks ago I had to go to finchley walkin centre after twisting my ankle and falling whilst shopping, struggling to walk and in cronic pain none of the staff offered wheelchair, after waiting for over an hour i was called for assessment by a nurse who belittled me with a remark about me wearing tight jeans and ankle boots difficult to assess my foot (I didn't set out to fall) not helpful when i was very upset crying with pain.x-ray staff weren't very friendly despite seeing me in pain, after sitting waiting over 2 hours x-ray showed broken bone in foot when i saw another nurse who said can't put cast as I was wearing jeans and asked if someone could go home and get a skirt (how unprofessional is that). the nurse went for second opinion came back put tuber grip, asked if I had used crutches before which I hadn't, the nurse than gave me 1 and asked me to pay for it,I was shocked asked how much they said £15,I didn't have any money on me so said sthe nurse would trust me to bring it back if I promised. What an experience over 3hrs already distressed by the fall and pain.I wasnt happy was in terrible pain so my friend took me to a&e where i was assessed they gave me 2 brand new crutches no charge and showed me how to use them,Week later went to fracture clinic at Barnet was told they should never have given me tuber grip, gave me proper heel shoe and after care instructions.I left feeling reassured, where as finchley I was treated with no respect and made me feel like I was stupid shouldn't be wearing jeans and I was at fault, bad enough falling but than humiliated by people who are suppose to be incare profession.
