"Pay for a smile and time"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Dermatology

I recently visited the dermatology dept at LRI after an initial referral at the The Spires. I was unable to get a disabled parking space as all were taken and another 5 were taped off.I then walked what appeared to be miles to find the correct dept. When I got there I was 'greeted' by receptionists who did not even look up at me and mumbled instructions. I was then called to wait outside the consultation room, by a very pleasant nursing assistant who walked really fast, I had to ask them to slow down and they apologised. My consultant said that they didn't have my notes. I had to show the consultant photos of my skin before I had seen them at the Spires and they took the copy of their letter to my GP from me to add to my file! The consultant couldn't wait to get rid of me and my questions were met with dismissive answers.I would like to add that the LRI is too big. You have to walk so far and no one offers help to elderly and disable visitors. The car parks are so far away from the wards and depts. No porters or staff oferred any help.

Dear reviewer, thank you for taking the time to review Dermatology at Leicester Royal Infirmary and we are sorry that you did not have a good experience.

Unfortunately we only have a limited number of disabled parking bays, although we are surprised that a number of them were not available.

Can I suggest as well for future reference that if you need to attend a further appointment that you ask at any of the main Reception Desks for assistance, as we appreciate that the hospital is large and we do have a buggy that will take people to different areas.

Our volunteers, in blue shirts, who do a great job will always try and help.

With regards to your actual appointment, could we ask that you contact Jodie Bale, General Manager for Dermatology email: jodie.bale@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or tel. 0116 258 6079 who would like to clarify details in order that we can improve our service for all our patients.

Once again our apologies.

Kind regards, Communications Team, Leicester’s Hospitals.
