"INCREASED MY STRESS LEVELS EVEN MORE"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

So basically I've been having breathing problems for 8 months straight. Only sleeping 30 mins because my nose would feel clogged. Also at the age of 15 till now I've been bullied by almost everybody I've ever spoken which was bullying in regards to my nose being very big! This cause me discomfort and stress as well as loss in confidence. So much too the point I feel lonely isolated and almost suicidal. I told gp about this problem and all they kept saying was eat more, don't stress etc. Things I could hear from a non gp. Frustrated I lashed out at the gp demanding a further investigation and that they refer me to hospital to see a nose specialist! I finally get my appointment waiting a entire Month. However the doctor tells me just to use a nasal spray. They do say surgery is a option but they must obtain funding which can also be rejected. So practically I wasted my time looking forward to this appointment. They told me exactly what the gp told me. I absolutely hate my nose and now I'm even more stressed and running out of options. Getting rid of my nose would have dramatically made my life better. I wasn't doing it to look good just wanted to stop the bullying and abuse I suffered for 10 years which is still on going! Thank you for increasing my stress and depression levels through the roof.

We're sorry to hear that the outcome of your ENT consultation was not to your satisfaction. It would be very useful if you could contact our ENT Service Line Manager or Matron so we can speak to you about your concerns further. Alternatively, you can contact our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) on 0800 653 0667 or pals@ghnt.nhs.uk. They can collect some more details from you and look into what happened in your case on your behalf.
