"Second degree burn"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

I'm aware that this walk in centre states they don't do dressings anymore, but when I ring 4 days in advance and ask if they can redress my burn becuase there's no available GP that's capable to do it, I'm told that's fine. When I turn up first in the door at 8.30am on a Monday

I'm told I can't have my unsanitary bandage changed. I work in a restaurant, I can't do my job with a unhygienic hand. This is not the first time the Hospital has let me down and I'm sure it won't be the last.

We were very sorry to receive your comments and concerns about your experiences. Mr Jaime Correia, Matron for the Walk in Centre, would like to apologise for the incorrect information you were given in regards to the Walk in Centre being able to change dressings. Whilst it is unclear which member of staff you spoke with, Matron Correia would like to reassure you that all members of the team have been spoken with and updated on the services provided by the walk-In-centre. The Walk-In-Centre staff would do their best to signpost patients to the most appropriate community service, including services available for dressing changes.

Matron Correia would like to thank you for taking the time to bring to his attention your experience and would very much like to hear from you directly. If you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk they will be able to discuss this with you.
