I had my hip replaced under NHS choices at Gatwick Spire on the evening of Tuesday 27th of September 2016, and was discharged on the following Friday morning.
Hip replacement is not a comfortable procedure for any patient, I guess, and to be honest, I was worried about some parts of it: the anaesthetic, the surgery itself and the general follow up in-patient care, all of which I had little previous knowledge of.
My experience was absolutely fantastic.
No problems at all.
Genuinely, honestly, no pain at any time that I was in hospital.
Yes, of course I was aware of the "wound" - and being made to get up literally a few hours after the operation - had its' obvious trepidations, but I needn't have worried.
Everything went perfectly - many thanks to all the staff at Gatwick - well done, you are a credit to your professions.
By the way, my wife was able to visit any time she liked, helped me dress and bathe and also had some of her meals with me.
Food was excellent too!
Regards,
Jeff B.
"Fantastic experience."
