"Follow - up appointment - impossibility of..."

About: St Richard's Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I had a total hip replacement on 10th September 2016. Went into Selsey Ward and all went well - I think!

Discharged 6 days later with much paperwork and other etceteras, including a promise that within about 10 days I would receive a "6 week appointment" in the post, when everything wd be checked.

It's 4 weeks since the operation and this has not been received.

Was told by OT that it definitely should have been received and advised to chase it up.

Oh how I've tried.

I phoned the hospital 7 times over yesterday and today.

I explained what I'm after, have been asked which consultant performed the operation, and told to hold as I will be put through to the correct person/office.

And then i wait, listening to a phone ringing.

And wait and wait and wait - my patience lasts a minimum of 20 minutes each time.

Sometimes longer.

To date, over 3 hours waiting on the end of a phone, for a phone that is never snswered.

What on earth am I mean to do?

Is there a secret codeword I don't know?

Should I use some kind of "Masons Handclasp" on the phon when I call?

Is there anyway to get through to someone about this?

If so, can someone kindly tell me what it is!

Ageing "Hippy".

We are sorry that you have had such a frustrating time trying to find out about a follow up appointment.

Please do contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01243 831822 or at palschichester@wsht.nhs.uk and a member of staff will be happy to help you.

This site is anonymous so we are unable to take any action but the PALS team can help you and also investigate what has happened so that other patients do not have a similar experience.

Once again we do apologise.
