Good Afternoon, My husband was a patient in the cardiothoracic unit and had very good treatment from all concerned. The only problem was the discharge procedure. He was taken out of his bed at 8am for it to be cleaned and the bedding changed as all he needed was an ecg. however this didn't happen until 2pm after he complained several times. The man in the next bed was fine to go at 8am but was told that his medication from the pharmacy wouldn't arrive until 4-5pm?
I encountered the same problem when my father was a patient several times prior to his death in 2004.
So it is something that seems to have never been solved over the years. There must be a more efficient way to do this as it must mean that beds that would be available are occupied by increasingly impatient people who could be discharged. This is a shame as it overrides the good service the rest of the time. Thanks
