My daughter attended the a and e department at approx 4pm yesterday it was not busy hardly anyone waiting to be seen. my daughter is pregnant and had started to have severe cramps and back ache plus bleeding she was terrified. She rang her midwife who instructed her to take an over night bag and go straight to the a and e. We booked in at the reception and were seen promptly by an assessment nurse, it went down hill after that, we were shown to a Sub wait area to await blood tests etc, she went in to see a doctor and was given a water sample bottle and had blood test, a cannula was put in her arm. She was then left sitting in the waiting room for 3 hours! She was in a lot of pain and very emotional, no one told her what was happening or what she was waiting for! I complained several times to no avail, I asked to see someone in charge and said I was disgusted that they thought sitting someone in the wait area for 3 hours when she was possibly experiencing a miscarriage was disgusting, she was then taken into a room by a doctor who discharged her without giving her any results of her tests and told to come back Thursday for a scan to see if she had lost her baby? I am appalled at the lack of care and compassion shown to my daughter.
