"Unorganised and need co operative antenatal..."

About: North Middlesex Hospital / Maternity care

Really disaastisfied with the antenal receptionist not one but most of the antenatal receptionists needs to retrain on how to treat their patients. Only the scan receptionists, sonographers, midwives an consultants are cooperative. I had to have my labour induced booked from now which the consultant had done for me because of a high risk pregnancy due to a stillbirth (which i had in this hospital previously) and I also had to book a few appointments at the desk which one of the recepionist butted in and made a rude sarcastic comment that it was too early for me to book my induction date and that it should not have been booked this soon. If they could mind their own business and understand that some patients are high risk then maybe they should have minded their own business and get to work. There was no need for that behaviour as patients were also behind me and its very unprofessional to behave in that manner. I really like this hospital but its a shame that the receptionists can behave like this. I think next time you should have an audio recorder to listen to how they speak to their patients and get rid of the ones not needed.

Thank you so much for your feedback.

I am the head of midwifery, g.slevin@nhs.net and I apologise for the experience you had at reception.

All receptionists are trained in customer care.

Unfortunately the standard of service you describe falls below the standard we expect.

I will be discussing your comments with the team.
