What I liked
Not a lot. I was admitted to ward 3 from A&E which I would not recommend as the nurses who were working under pressure had no communication from ward sister. I had numerous investigations to resolve my symptoms of which on the morning of the 9th I had a abdo x-ray at 10 am. I had no notes in my file to give me any insight as to why I was having this x-ray. I had no feedback from any professionals. I was written up for medication of which had not been administered. I was told I was going home at 2.30pm after a review with the doctor of my plan as did eerybody else in the ward. It was quarter past 9pm I was still waiting to be reviewed when the ward sister came and informed me that the abdo x-ray I had was ok and I could go home. It had taken 9 1/2 hours to be told I could go home with no review from a doctor, however I would have to wait as my home medication was not ready. This meant I had to return the following day to collect. I don't visit A&E very often but on the night of the 8th alot of health proffessionals on A&E were working under extreme pressure to deliver quality care. It is a shame that it cant be continued due to bed blocking on ward three which meant 80yr old people were put on beds in corridors on A&E waiting to go onto wards.
What could be improved
communication, consistency with quality care and when meds are written up they should administered as and when requested. Members of family shouldnt have to come in and administer medication.
Anything else?
In light of all of this I feel for the two nurses who cared for me had to play guessing games to treat patients due to lack of communication between teams and no positive leadership.
