"Vacuum Aspiration under Local Anaesthetic"

About: BPAS Birmingham South Clinic

I had vacuum aspiration under local anaesthetic yesterday, what a lovely welcoming place with truly nice staff! I was made to feel relaxed and not judged. My appointment was 9am and I left at 10:50am so it was very quick! The procedure itself was ok, I had taken 2 strong co-codamol & 2 strong ibuprofen before the procedure, the speculum bit is stretchy and the local anaesthetic injection into my cervix was stingy, after that I just felt cramps and abit of pressure, not completely pain free but nowhere near as bad as I had expected, put it this way, I thought they had only just started the vacuum aspiration bit when in actual fact they had finished! Walked straight through to recovery, tea and biscuits waiting for me, and drove home after about 30-40 mins. Can't praise the staff there enough for being so lovely in such scary, difficult times.
