"The birth of my son"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care) General Practices in Grampian

(as the patient),

From the very beginning of my journey at the Aberdeen fertility clinic I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with NHS.

I'll start with my experience at the fertility clinic. What an amazing bunch of lovely women who have the time, patience and caring nature to get you through what is possibly one of the hardest things to go though.. infertility. They understood completely and I always looked forward to my appointments. The ladies there were as excited as I was to get started with treatment and I never once felt a burden.

Fast forward 2 years and I now have a beautiful 3 month old baby boy! !

I was cared for during my pregnancy by the lovely midwifes at Albyne medical practice and I must say they where amazing! Once again I felt completely at ease. Lucy, my main midwife always had the time for me if I needed to ask a quick question.

I went into labour at 39 weeks. The midwife I spoke to before going in was great and totally understood how scared I was with it being my first. I went in an hour later and had another amazing midwife care for me until midnight before their shift change. She kept me calm and I felt in control. After the shift change I had yet another great midwife and a student midwife. I have to say the student was absolutely unbelievably amazing! ! She was so professional, knew exactly what she was doing, didn't panic and was so so caring. All the staff I encountered in the maternity ward where great and I couldn't fault them for a second. After I delivered I was sent to Ashfield ward. The midwifes who delivered my baby and I had a little cry (it was a very emotional night) and there I stayed for two days. Again all the staff in the Ashfield ward where great! I never felt a burden with any one of them.

To the women who gave us food to the women who cared for me and my baby. I had great help with everything. The night staff where especially great as I struggled to breast feed my son. They were there with me night after night helping me. I couldn't of dreamed of a better experience from start to finish. I have grown into a great mother and I can only thank my experience with all the amazing women who helped me through my journey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Dear Em25

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy!

What a truly heart-warming and beautiful story. You describe so well the fantastic care you received and how it made you feel. AMH staff should all be very proud of what they were able to do for you. Other women with fertility difficulties or any expectant mum will be very reassured to read of the high standard of care you received.

It is clear that our staff do feel emotionally involved with their mums and this demonstrates that we are all human and how important human kindness is to the healthcare professions. You encountered many staff and it is amazing, that without exception they were first-class carers.

Your praise will be very well received by AMH staff and we are all extremely grateful to you for taking time out to share your experiences on Patient Opinion.

Good luck with the little one!

Kind regards,
