Lucky might not be the correct word to use, but if I had a choice. I would want it to be Addenbrookes.
I was recently admitted via A and E and received exceptional treatment from the moment I walked through the doors.
I was seen almost immediately (!although fainting in the triage room probably pushed me to the top of the rankings) I was seen by a doctor, had an ecg, chest xray, and diagnosis just short of an hour. Being admitted to a stayover ward took a little longer. But not as long as the hospital in the area where I live. ( I was visiting Cambridge from the West Midlands) At all times the staff in both departments were courteous, respectful, professional and kept me informed of every step of the process. What impressed me most was the way they not only discussed my treatment with me but then asked if it was OK to carry it out. They tailored my treatment to my circumstances, and even coordinated my discharge time to the arrival of my lift. I couldn't have asked for better treatment. To anyone that disagrees with me, please come and visit some of our local A and E departments.
I have to say being in Addenbrookes A and E depth, although a place of frenetic activity at times, it really gave the impression of being an oasis of calm. Thank-you to everyone I met there, and in particular to a lovely volunteer who was there for me when I needed them when I was a long way from home!
