"Mixed feelings"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Clinical haematology

My wife has just had to use various critical care departments starting with A&E and I must say how fantastic all the staff where especially A&E who also had to deal with out of control drunks and trouble makers while keeping a smile on their faces, I don't know how they do it. However what I must complain about is that I rang the switchboard to find the visiting hours for the ward she was in at the time only to be transferred to the ward where a very busy hard pressed nurse answered my question. It would have been less disruptive and far easier for the switchboard to tell me, or is that above their pay grade? This information is not on the website and should be so that people need not ring in.

Thank you for taking the time to tell me about your recent positive experiences whilst in contact with The Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. I know they will be very pleased to hear that you found the staff to be “fantastic” particularly under the circumstances that you have described. I am sorry that found your contact with our Switchboard to be less positive. To support learning and to fully explore your concerns, if you feel this is right for you please contact our Patient Relations team directly on

patient.relations@bfwhospitals.nhs.uk

So that we can get further details about what happened and ensure that your concerns are fully investigated.

I have provided the link to the visiting times which are on our website for your information:

http://www.bfwh.nhs.uk/patients-and-visitors/ward-visiting-times/

If you are able to provide the link to the site that you used I can then raise the issue to our web team.

Thank you once more for taking the time to post your experience.

Kind Regards

Andrew
