"attitude of some staff"

About: New Victoria Hospital / X-rays and scans

(as a friend),

My friend attended the scan clinic yesterday and was anxious about the procedure, the nurse who met her on arrival and took her medical details and explained to her what the scan involved was inconsiderate of her feelings and spoke to her in a manner which I consider unprofessional, as the result of this my friend became more anxious and was thinking of cancelling the scan.

she was then seen by a different nurse who put her at ease and explained the procedure in a professional manner.

I also observed two members of staff calling a patient auntie and Mrs, the patient was not happy with this and asked to be called by her surname.

Dear mcairney

Thank you for taking the time to post on Patient Opinion. I am sorry to hear about what you observed whilst your friend was receiving care at the New Victoria Hospital. This is not how we expect any of our patients to be spoken to at all, especially as this resulted in your friend feeling more anxious.

I will ensure your feedback is shared with the service.

Best wishes
Lisa
