"Waste of time using this hospital!"

About: Airedale General Hospital

I already was unhappy with the care provided by Airedale and had put in a complaint to pals! I wouldn't advise anyone waste there time putting in a complaint as nothing comes of it! I had an op done 9 gays ago all went well then a lump appears on my side very painful, sought advise from my doctor who suspected it was a hernia and sent me straight back to hospital for a scan. I arrived at Airedale at 12:00 was fitted with a canula and bloods taken to check for infection, I was left 6 hours nil by mouth, then a surgeon examined me and explained they thought I'd had an internal bleed and this was nothing to worry about! Fine! They then explained they wanted me to return the following day to have an ultrasound scan done to confirm this and that I had to arrive at the hospital on the same ward at 7:30. I arrived the following day as instructed was told there was no beds so I would have to wait in the day room fine I had no problem with that! What I do have a problem with is being left for almost 7 hours in the day room! With no answers as to when I would be having my scan! To then be told we have moved a person out of there room so the consultant can examine you for them to press 3 times on my tummy say yes you had an internal bleed and we can't fit you in for a scan today you can go home and we will send you an appointment through the post!!! Even the consultant agreed with me that this had been bad practise! This hospital is going down hill and fast! Such a shame!

We are sorry that you have had such a negative experience at our hospital, and that sadly on this occasion our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) were not able to satisfactorily resolve your concerns.

We would value the opportunity to discuss and investigate your experience in more detail and we would encourage you to contact PALS on 01535 294019 again.
