"disabled parking charge"

About: Queen's Hospital / Maternity care

Can you please explain why Blue Badge holders have to 'Pay and Display' in the Maternity Car Park in spite of the numerous bays marked 'Disabled' Is this hospital policy or a ruling of Gemini the parking enforcement company whose signs are displayed?

Thank you for your comment.

I can confirm that all visitors including blue badge holders are required to pay for parking when using the Maternity and multi-storey car parking facility. Parking in one of these bays without making payment will results in possible penalty notice.

We have a number of disabled parking bays on the flat surface area outside of the main entrance which when displaying a valid blue badge, payment is not required. I can confirm this is Trust policy. If you wish to discuss your concerns further, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Team. PALS can be contacted on 01708 435 454 or by email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk.

Yours Sincerely

Kathryn Halford
