"A&e dreadful Experience ."

About: The Royal Glamorgan Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My son went to this department at The Royal Glamorgan Hospital recently. Really unwell. Seen at triage approx 40 minuets after arriving. Good. Seen by doctor 4 hours after. Examined. Had an X-ray. Told that he was being admitted at 5. 30. Told to wait in waiting room for a bed. Asked for pain relief at 8pm. Still waiting. Reviewed painkillers at 1. am. Still waiting for bed. Still sitting in waiting room! Told no beds at 2am. Given a side room in A&e on a trolley at 4am! No blanket or pillow available. Given a sheet! No food or drink offered in all that time. Still waiting at 8. 20 this morning for a scan which was the reason they kept him overnight. Told by. Student doctor that he doesn't need one! Still no water or food offered! ..... And STILL WAITING! ! ! !

I think this is a disgusting way to run a department in a hospital.

It is helpful that you have a contact number to call to discuss any problems, but this sort of thing shouldn't happen in the first place. Like I said the staff are lovely, helpful even, that's when you see one. It's not their fault. I know they are busy. The system has let the department down.

I work for Public Health. I know how short staffed all areas of the NHS are. Systems and management are at fault. Hats off to the over stretched staff.
