My husband was admitted for the administration of intravenous antibiotics following attendance at A&E. He remained for three days in a side ward attached to A&E. Apart from the regular administration of the antibiotics, his care was non existent. After two nights sweating profusely, his bed sheets had not been changed and nor had he been seen by a Doctor since the initial admission. It was only after much persistence by me that he was given clean bed sheets and was eventually seen by a very junior doctor who discharged him. The G P thereafter gave far better advice and was more knowledgable than the Doctor who reviewed him finally on the third day of his stay. All the nurses seemed to be agency nurses with little knowledge of protocols and there was a total lack of continuity in his care.
