"Great hospital however parking ..."

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

My friend was in a lot of pain after a let/foot accident. The A&E department was great and very quickly competed the x-rays and diagnosis. I cannot fault the hospital or staff. The parking however is a serious situation that needs to be looked at by the management. The last thing on my mind was needing to pay for parking when getting my friend to the department, never mind having to scrape as much change as I could together to actually pay for it. 3.50 for 1-2 hours or 5.50 for 2-4 hours? I can see why they do it to stop people parking and riding into Manchester but seriously? How about 4 hours free then fees apply if you stay longer? And build a extra few levels onto the multi story.

Thank you for your comments. Your compliments about the staff in ED have been passed on to the department. With regard to your parking concerns, The Director of Facilities has commented that the new parking tariffs have only recently been increased in the hospital and for years the car parking prices have been at a greatly reduced price to members of the public and patients. The new parking tariffs are commensurate with the surrounding hospitals in the area and the income that is generated is used to repair the roads, car parks and help fund specialist equipment for the hospital. There is no future plans to reduce the car parking tariffs at this present time. Please contact the Patient & Customer Services Department on 0161 419 5678 should you wish to discuss this further.
