"Basic Care and Compassion would of been a good..."

About: Colchester General Hospital / Accident and emergency

Involved in a cycling accident. Came off at 20mph and landed on my head and chest. Felt that the accident wasn't taken very seriously. Few neck X-rays and sent on my way very quickly. Despite me stating i had ongoing chest pain. No other investigations done. Still had all my bike clothing on and not properly examined. I had a lot of morphine with the ambulance staff and only 1 set of observations were done on admission to the hospital and never repeated. Heard staff talking about how i had mentioned that i was a senior nurse in another A&E and they seemed disgruntled by my comment. Some staff were nice. But the first doctor made me feel like i was overreacting with my pain and symptoms. I was in shock as it was with the accident and felt very upset to feel like i was an inconvenience. Overall i was very unimpressed with the care and on route home i had to seek further medical attention as my condition got worst.
