"The NEW Queens Park A&E Blackburn (Royal Blackburn)"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

(as the patient),

My husband and my 10 y old son both went to A&E-my husband had injured his wrist at rugby and my son had banged his cheek a few days previously so we wanted to make sure it wasnt a broken cheekone as there was still a lump. I dropped them off at 4.30 pm on sunday 30/9/07 - they arrived home at 10.30pm-we live 7 mins away. They didnt see a doctor until they had been there 3hrs and 57 mins- how lucky, just 3 mins before the 4 hour deadline they have to see a patient. They then went to x-ray which took half an hr. Then another hour before they discussed the results of the x-ray and that was only because my husband said he'd come back tomorrow as he had his 10 yr old son. There had been an rta and one nurse advised the non-urgent patients to come back in the morning. The nurses were talking privately to each other about the "breeches". As soon as my husband said he was going home the doctor looked up and said "your next" and saw them 1o minutes later. My husband had a suspected broken scaphoid so needed it putting in plaster so that was another 20mins. I know its not the nurses or doctors fault-but they were initially told it was about 2 hours waiting time. He was there 6 hours!
