"My husbands excellent care"

My husband came into Southmead after suffering a stroke. During the time he was there he received the best care available I believe - the nurses were nothing short of wonderful - kind and sensitive. As my husbands health worsened, his care became more intensive and everything possible was done to make him more comfortable. The doctor I saw explained gently and warmly, as best they could, how the outlook may be for my husband. Living with the knowledge that the very dearest person in your life has life changing injuries, one tends to hang onto every word, detail and information you can obtain from the professionals whilst wanting him to suffer as little as possible. All of the nurses I came across during his care, really did care. I was and am, totally grateful for all of the compassion and expertise shown whilst caring for him, while he and I were helpless and very scared with what was happening - which altered our, then my, life for ever.
