My GP referred me to a named consultant for a specific reason.First of all I was told by the appointments team that I was allocated to see a physio after I called to ask when my appointment would be.I pointed out my GP had referred to a named doctor. Was given the run around by several departments who did not answer my questions.I spoke to PALS who completely misunderstood my query.I then self referred to physio as no appointment was forthcoming and I was in a lot of pain.I was told by the physio that the issue was too complex for self referral and I needed to see a consultant.Weeks later I receive an appointment for a different consultant to the person my GP had specified on their referral letter.Obviously the admin staff know more about my health than my own doctor or maybe I have been 'shoe horned' in to an available appointment to meet some meaningless target.I wait with bated breath for the outcome.Following the submission of this review I will get the usual contact PALS response.I won't bother with that.I think we have all come to know that our local hospitals are not fit for purpose.
