"Shocked and disappointed with the lack of Care"

About: Queen's Hospital, Burton Upon Trent / Maternity care

Having being admitted for induction she was given a pessary at 11am and monitored all was well at this point. A few hours passed and she started to get severe back ache followed by contractions, she had only had paracetamol.. her partner requested pain relief 9 hours after the pessary had been inserted she was experiencing strong contractions, she was told her partner would have to leave at 10pm she was terrified of being in so much pain on her own... after pushing for pain relief the midwife finally examined her and was shocked to find she was 6cm dilated and asked her to walk to a side room, luckily now her partner didn't need to leave her!i walked in i could see she was in a lot of pain they had finally given her pethadin just before my arrival she was put in that room.

After only 5 minutes of me being in there she said she could feel the head, i walked to the midwife station where 3 midwives sat and said she could feel the head, they sat looking at me as if i was on a different planet and didn't move so i said it again, its just pressure she said, no after finally looking it was the sac of water protruding, they dashed off to get a delivery kit and examined her, they finally moved her to the labour room. When asked if she could move on the delivery bed she replied i haven't got the strength my legs are like jelly, the midwife walked off and said if you can try. so i stepped in and helped her across, her waters burst. i was miffed at this point with the attitude, just get on with it, no offer of help to move her! she moved along the labour very quickly and the head started to crown, she was told to push, which she did, not once was she asked to pant as the head moved down.at the very last minute a cut was made and 2 pushes later the baby was born.my daughter had awful tears and dr needed to stitch her for nearly 2 hours, was this because she should have been cut earlier. we don't know? it took 2.5 hours for the midwife to weigh the baby. The midewife pointed to the shower and told her to use it if she wanted at no point was she helped, luckily i was there and advised her not to get straight up to sit on the edge of the bed etc then i steadied her and helped wash her. no thought or care if she fell or went light headed and she was so sore after all that stitching. when asked breast or bottle the baby was put on her, 1st time mom no idea how to do this she was met with a very harsh no not like that, look he's looking for it move your hand, do it like this & left to it, the room was 27 degrees she was light headed, tired and hot.. she immediately felt not good enough to feed her baby because of the midwives awful attitude. she was told to do a wee in a pot, when she asked are the pots in here the midwife looked at her & said I can't see through walls, the baby was very mucousy when she asked the midwife if he was safe as he was sick and how long he could be like it the midwife said i haven't got a crystal ball can't tell the future... vile awful
