"Avoid if possible"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital / General surgery

Went in for an emergency appendectomy. Waited 6 hours with clearly non-emergency cases. Why not take people's blood as soon as they arrive rather then 51/2 later? That way you can see who has infection and needs prompt treatment? There was no triage, painkillers were given out randomly to people (perhaps they shouldn't have had them due to whatever condition. ie aspirin and stomach ulcers is bad combo. Nurse didn't check). Was seen for 1 minute - clearly badly infected. Other people had cut fingers and got bored and left to go KFC. They shouldn't have been in same section as people who were literally fallig over. Why are we all lumped together? Was left alone in surgical unit all night - no one came to put the drip in, no one put a sheet on the trolley or a pillow case on bed, no one checked on me at all till just before hand over at 8, when the person who had done nothing but talk loudly outside my room all night (good luck sleeping) complained i didn't have a pillow case, complained i didn't have a drip (put one in + left blood splurting everywhere). Pressed buzzer for help when blood splurting out + an angry person appeared saying 'we're doing handover' + just turned the beeping machine off. Dirty, unpleasant and frightening.
