"His life in your Hands"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 12)

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

My Husband 8 months for an "Urgent" Appointment with Respiratory following two "Urgent" Referrals from his GP, a visit to A&E and an "Urgent" Referral from another Specialist - We contacted the Respiratory Department to be told that the "Specialist" had looked at these referrals (not at the Patient) and decided that they should be downgraded to Routine! !

He has since had one appointment, been referred for Scans, had these scans called back for more "Urgent" scans as there was something wrong with the first scans. He now has his "Follow-Up" appointment to discuss these results .. but the appointment is booked for April next year! Lets hope there is nothing seriously wrong with him! ! We contacted Referral Management Services and the lady was quite aghast that he expected an earlier appointment.

Dear Really Worried Wife

I'm so sorry to read about the journey that your husband has had. I would be keen that we had a chance to look at the details of this. Could I please ask that you or your husband phones Angela Smith, Directorate Business Support Manager, on 01355 584160 to discuss your husband's and your frustrations.

Many Thanks

Susan
