I was admitted at 7am the morning of my operation, after op, was returned to ward.
Now early afternoon, no food or drink was afforded me, I explained to nurse I could not take painkillers without food ,to do so would cause stomach irritation, eventually nurse found a slice of white bread and a glass of water. The nurse apologised,
I was then moved from single ward to a ward with four patients, by this time it was tea time, where once again no food was afforded me, eventually the Sister managed to locate a baked potato.
Please would you consider giving patients a menu sheet to fill in when they present for their pre-operation assessment. or else notify patients to bring in their own food and drink for operation day. Many Thanks Mara.
