I arrived at A&E in early September displaying symptoms consistent with a spinal injury. The staff at Monklands hospital quickly and thoroughly investigated my symptoms and took me to ward 10.
During the night the staff were in touch with the Queen Elizabeth hospital to gain advice and further assessment. I was left feeling reassured by the way the two hospitals worked together at a time when I was naturally very anxious.
I was transferred to ward 64 in the Queen Elizabeth where I was given the scan I required and support and guidance to help me become more mobile. One week after admission I was transferred back to Monklands where I was again assessed and given a bed in ward 16. The staff there were great in supporting me and kept a check that the necessary things were happening to ensure I was able to get home as quickly as possible.
The staff in Monklands facilitated me visiting Hairmyres hospital to attend a prior arranged appointment with the neurologist. This doctor listened to all the information I gave him and gave me details of what was wrong and a website that would help me with further information. He ensured that his diagnosis was available to the staff back at Monklands as soon as possible that day.
I am now home and doing well thanks to the way these three hospitals worked together.
