"Absolutely rubbish."

I visited the dermatology department after being referred by my GP. The member of staff I saw was awful. I was wearing makeup as I do not feel comfortable leaving the house due to my acne reaching a severe level. The member of staff asked me to remove my makeup to which I replied I couldn't as I had somewhere else to be afterwards which was true. The member of staff then told me that they couldn't treat me as they needed to see the acne even though I showed them photos I had taken the night before as evidence, something which my sister had told me to do as she herself had worn makeup to her dermatology appointment at Basildon Hospital and was treated successfully. I finally said I could remove the makeup on my neck if necessary and the member of staff said it didn't matter so I don't know why they made a fuss in the first place. The member of staff said thick makeup, which I took as an insult, can cause acne however I informed them that I hardly wear makeup at the moment as I haven't been leaving the house as much as a result of my acne, and I know that my acne is hormonal so they were just being incredibly rude and patronising in my opinion. I informed the member of staff that I had previously tried a number of creams, antibiotics and the contraceptive pill but none of them had worked. The member of staff demanded that I tell them which ones and when I could not remember the specific names they were even ruder, saying they didn't know how they would treat me at all. When the member of staff finally wrote a prescription all they asked was if I was on any other medication, not if I had any other underlying health conditions or any other concerns. The member of staff prescribed me a cream and some random tablets, I was incredibly unimpressed as my sister was prescribed isotretinoin which was what I wanted to finally rid me of my acne. I was instead given another antibiotic, which I found out after researching the prescription they had given me when I got home, even though I told the member of staff that they did not work on me nor do the creams as I suffer from hormonal acne not anything to do with bacteria. The member of staff did not once ask me what type of treatment I was would like to proceed with or if I have sensitive skin, leading me to view them as completely unprofessional and clearly not trained enough in this matter as my GP had previously said they could immediately tell by where my acne was that it was hormonal but they did not say this once. All the member of staff did was prescribe me with something I could have received at my GP's surgery which is just ridiculous. If anyone is deciding where to go once they've been referred to a dermatologist for acne then I would say do not choose here as it was a complete waste of my time and I am now having to go back to my GP to be re-referred.
