Hi, I don't normally give feedback on public service experiences, but I feel every now and again it's worthwhile. On 06/09/2016 at around 0800 with an attack of pancreatitis. Considering the recent press on how strained the capacity that the hospital is experiencing, I was processed into the A&E ward within about 15mins and considering the pain i was in, it was a great relief. It was clear the staff were struggling for bed space and proved extremely resourceful in how they coped. Within an hour or so I was made comfortable and after the appropriate tests etc.. by approximately 1400 was placed on ward 5b. The consistency in every aspect of the entire experience was the professionalism, helpfulness and most importantly the friendliness of the staff. This was such a tonic when feeling not only physically uncomfortable, but actually quite vulnerable. This includes the nursing staff, their support staff and the caterers. I would like to highlight one individual, who I thought was exceptional. It was the nurse that was looking after ward 5b on both the 6th and the 7th. They were the nurse who took my general details down. It's difficult to pinpoint what it was that stood out, but they just had a genuinely caring mannerism, efficient, personable... the list could go on. It made a real difference, especially during the first few hours when I was especially uncomfortable. So in summary, a huge acknowledgement to all of the members of staff in trying circumstances. But a special shout out to to one nurse in particular - Thank you - John Rishton
